About Us

Tara’s love of animals began as a young child. She was always helping ‘lost’ bugs, or injured animal and was fascinated by the world around her. As a child, she grew up with a number of different animals and loved learning about each new critter that she had the chance to meet. Everything from fish to birds - hampsters to cats - and eventually a dog!

After moving out, while attending university, she missed having animals in her life and set out to fill the gap by offering pet care services to friends and co-workers. This was a great stepping stone for her and allowed her to gain valuable experience which she has continued to use to this day.

Terra Nova Canines was created with the mission in mind to be able to help as many dog owners as possible find safe, comforting and reliable care for their four-legged friends.

Not only is Tara certified in Pet First Aid & CPCR, she is also a fear-free certified pet professional! This means only humane and positive methods of care are used and no adverse tools or techniques will be found at Terra Nova Canines. In addition, she has continued to advance her education by learning about dog body language, proper socilization and the fundamentals of dog training.

While working with her boarding clients, Tara began to focus more on canine training. Caring for dogs for any length of time meant she would be working with them and training them whether intentionally or not. After a number of successes with those in her care, she knew training was the next step she wanted to take in her career.

Now a recent graduate from the Victoria Stilwell Academy, Tara looks forward to continuing to provide her clients with the highest standard of care and can not wait to help you and your pups build a stronger foundation for success through positive reinforcement training!
