‘Wait’

Step 1: Start by finding an object your dog is interested in, but not TOO interested in.

Step 2: While in a 'sit' position, show your pup the object (not too close) and say 'wait'

Step 3: If your pup doesn't move towards the object after 1 second, 'mark' and treat!

Step 4: Continue this and build up the duration. See if your pup can wait for 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds etc each time 'marking' and treating.

Step 5: To build a stronger 'wait', you can change up the value of the object you are using or how close the object is to your pup. Find something they are a little more interested in or bring the object closer to them before asking for 'wait'.

TIP: Be careful not to advance too quickly, as we always want to set our pups up for success.
